Duties described below are the basic tasks to be performed as a caregiver.

Caregiver:

Job Summary

Caregivers will need to provide the necessary skills and attributes to administer services to clients of all ages, gender, and race. Personal care services provided through reimbursement agencies such as Medicaid, Private Insurance, or Private Pay will be under hands-on supervision of the caregiver and supervisor. DSWs are required to carry out all tasks assigned in order to provide in-home care assistance to all consumer’s ADLs.

Responsibilities and Job Performance

All tasks and duties mentioned within this section are mandatory of all caregivers to assist and accomplish:

• In-home/Personal care to the elderly and disabled clients.

• Provide care assistance with bathing, dressing/assisting with clothing, grooming, hair care, toileting, and exercise. 

• Involvement with nutritious meal preparation, cooking, feeding, and grocery shopping.

• Assistance with laundry, organization, light housekeeping, and cleaning.

• Provide assistance for medication reminders; accompany to doctor appointments, dental, administrative assistance, and banking assistance (if applicable).

• Provide assistance with transferring, ambulation, and transportation (if needed).

• Become knowledgeable of the consumers individual service plan that reflects on the following:

  • Self-learning skills

  • Behavior monitoring

  • Documentation

  • Hazard and safety screening

  • Work environment

• Be able to maintain all resources of documentation of reports, activities, awareness/caution, mental status, or requests of the client.

• Independently evaluate strengths and needs of the consumer as a caregiver by observing living situations and environment.

• Repetitiously perform emergency routines such as: fire, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, and/or robbery.

• MUST practice integrity, confidentiality and protect personal/medical information pertaining to company and consumer. 

• Knowledgeable of persons with developmental disabilities, respite care and elderly care.

Tasks and assigned duties are on a case by case basis; therefore some consumers may require more attention and services than others. Training will be provided upon hire and done on an annual basis or as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

We would love to hire all persons who are passionate about what they love to do, however, there are certain qualifications that must be met in order to perform service assignments in the home.

·        High School diploma or GED or CNA license (if prior two are not available)

·        MUST pass a background check

·        Eligible to work in the US

o   I.D. or Driver’s License

o   Social Security Card

o   Birth Certificate

o   Passport

o   Resident Alien Card/Permanent Resident Card

·        If needed, require proof vehicle ownership and insurance

·        Able to lift a minimum of 20lbs

·        Able to complete the physical ability screening

·        Communicate clearly with admin and client

• Maintain all documentation and confidentiality of all consumers.

• Monitor all tasks and assignments completed by caregiver.

• Report to all quarterly meetings for the consumer.

• Perform individualized training

• Assist caregiver within the field, as needed.

• Report to HR for any and all incidents that are reported by caregiver and/or consumer.

• Maintain all records according to compliance standards of the state.
